CASAIS – Aggregation-Induced Separation Process
Category:
Aggregation-Induced Process
- Product Description
-
The Aggregation-Induced Separation (CASAIS) process, developed by CAS-REALNM, is a proprietary liquid separation technology based on independently developed advanced polymer functional materials.
It is designed specifically for challenging oil–water emulsions and immiscible liquid–liquid systems commonly found in industries such as coal chemicals, fine chemicals, hydrometallurgy, petrochemical refining, biopharmaceuticals, and transportation.
Through the use of modular separation units equipped with CAS-REALNM’s functional filter cartridges, the system can be flexibly configured to perform either water removal from oil or oil removal from water, depending on the application.
A standard treatment process typically consists of two stages — pre-treatment and demulsification–separation — to achieve high-purity separation results.

Process Advantages
1. Purely Physical Separation
Oil–water separation is achieved through a purely physical mechanism, requiring no chemical additives and producing no secondary pollution.
2. Zero Emissions
The process generates no sludge or hazardous by-products, ensuring clean and environmentally safe operation.
3. High Precision
Achieves excellent separation accuracy — water content in oil below 5 ppm and oil content in water below 5 ppm.
4. Low Operating Cost
Operates under ambient temperature and pressure, with compact footprint, high automation, and low energy consumption.
Recovered oil can be recycled and reused, adding economic value, while the treated effluent reduces downstream load and energy consumption.
5. Full Automation
A fully enclosed system integrated with an automated control platform, enabling timed discharge of oil, water, and sludge, along with automatic backwashing.
The process runs unattended, offering high reliability and minimal maintenance.
6. Excellent Corrosion Resistance
Handles fluids across the full pH 1–14 range, with strong acid and alkali resistance.
The system operates efficiently between –5°C and 95°C, ensuring wide temperature adaptability.
7. Strong Impact Resistance
Maintains stable effluent quality even under shock loads with up to 20% oil content.
8. High Flexibility and Scalability
Modules can be connected in series to enhance separation precision or in parallel to increase capacity.
The modular design allows easy system expansion and on-site customization according to operational needs.
